Three months later and a possible sighting in Baja.
A waiter says he waited on the family back in late February or early March, and they left behind a map. He said Joey looked ill and stressed out, and he wondered how the little one hit his head. (Chubba’s birthmark) He was kind enough to put it in a bag and save it for some reason. We gave it to the FBI. Now that they have it, were hoping that since both Joey & Summer have their realtor’s licenses and were fingerprinted that something will come from it. I believe that the Sheriff’s Department will be running it for prints.
This brings a ray of hope.

There is no excuse for this waiter to have given it to you and not to LE or the FBI. In my opinion, this map would now be tainted evidence if it is even evidence at all.

A friend of mine went missing a few years back and it has been a very long journey. Very terrible ending and I won’t go into details. My point is, every once in awhile I see a missing persons case and it really grabs my attention. A family of four missing really touched my heart. I have been following your blog, the news, and anything else I can to keep updated on your missing family, though I’ve never commented here. I am so sorry you are going through this and I pray for a reunion soon. You are a wonderful brother to be so persistent in finding them. It is a hard task to take on, and sadly, not everyone is willing to do it. I know from experience. Your determination is very admirable. Keep it up! One day you will have the answers you are looking for, I just know it. Thank you for keeping us updated.

OK, I found the buttons, but I think it would really help if you made it more reader friendly It’s almost too refined. I’ve been in the advertising business for years. Love your site design, but I think if you pumped up the TIP section it could help.
Do you have the “missing flyers” posted in all of the Baja resorts and taco stands? I’m wondering if it would help if you contacted some of the hotels/restaurants/travel agents/realtors to print out the flyer and post it. I realise that they might think it’s bad for business, but some might agree to it.

I can’t imagine why a waiter would put a map left on a table into a bag and save it. But I’m hoping it’s true that the map belonged to Joey and Summer.

I still ask the same question unanswered from your last post…..was the camera your brother used so often in the house? His sites have all shown log on’s…… of course no new videos but is the camer part of the belongngs left?

But, the question remains…if this was them, why all of the sudden do they pack up and leave without a trace? They must know people are searching for them..and worried. This seems as strange as the story itself.
I was a server for years and we always saved personal items that were left behind. The only thing we threw out was forgotten left overs. I cant tell you how many times we would get a phone call days or even weeks later from someone looking for the glasses they left on the table.
I hope and pray this map leads to their safe recovery.
Olivia Newton John’s boyfriend disappeared in 2005. Last year it seems he was found to be living and working in Baja, Mexico.
Sometimes people just up and leave when they feel under pressure financially or emotionally. Maybe they owe money, child support or they want to get out of a marriage or relationship. They don’t want to be found, but it might happen that at some point someone, somewhere spots them.
It’s a terrible thing to do to your relatives or spouse sitting at home wondering what happened, but sadly sometimes people see no other way out and they just take off.
I hope for your sake and the two kids especially that the family returns to CA and sorts out their life.

There are many of us out here who are so frustrated with not being able to do anything to help your family. Please give us something to do. We will happily make phone calls to the news stations or send out emails to everyone we know in the hopes that we get the faces of this family out there. I think about your family every day and pray for them.
People, this site is for supporting the family and giving tips if you have them to give. This is NOT facebook! Why would you confront Mike in this way on his own site? Do you even realize the hours he and his family have put in to try and find his brother? It doesn’t make sense that you are calling him out. He and his family don’t need additional stress now. It shows the kind of man he is that he has not removed your unfeeling comments yet. Shame on you. This is not an afternoon talk show where you can tune in and out for your entertainment. Do you get it that they miss and love these people and cannot wait to have the answers you are pressing for? Do you understand that if he told all he knows to the public at large, it could undermine the investigation? The goal here is returning four people to their family unharmed, and some courtesy is required. They didn’t disappear for your entertainment.

Your frustration and anger are understandable, as you personally know Joey and Summer. But perhaps you should try to understand it from the public perception. This website is the only source of information for most people, and we have to request updates from the family. The last flyer distribution was organized for the beginning of April (as far as I can tell from this website), it is now the middle of May and no further efforts have been put forth by the family. It is not up to the media or law enforcement to keep the search for this family out there in the public–it is up to the family. Personally, I would use this website as a Journal and make frequent, if not daily, posts. I live in Illinois and have followed the Stacy Peterson disappearance from back in 2007. Just recently, the family organized and conducted another search for Stacy. That’s over 2 years ago and they continue to keep this matter in the news and active. Joey and Summer have been missing for just 3 months and it seems as if the family has just gone silent. No one expects the family to divulge critical information that law enforcement has instructed them not to but it would be nice to see that the family is still actively searching for Joey, Summer, Gianni and Joseph, Jr. I would love to see recently added pictures, stories of their lives, etc., to let the public know what wonderful people they are but, instead, we are left to speculate and then are criticized by the few friends and family who actually do speak out on their behalf. Honestly, what we know of Joey is that he sold fountains and he liked to surf. Summer liked to shop online, she was reclusive, worked in real estate and loved her dog Bear. Certainly there is much more to these people than that and it would make a world of difference to make these people human in the public’s eyes. The harshness and nastiness by family and friends, in my opinion, is just one more reason why people are being so skeptical. This is certianly just one person’s opinion but it how I feel and the thoughts I have when I come to this website looking information.
I hope for nothing more than a positive outcome in this matter and that all of you are reunited soon.

I know there is not an instruction manual when a person is missing…..and you and your family are doing what you believe is right and will bring your family back or at least make contact with them.
But, for now I am going to assume by your not responding to my question about the camera that they indeed took that with them along with the clothing and other things described in many of the news articles, which almost seems as if they did indeed disappear on purpose.
Perhaps you might respond to someone, anyone every once in a while to let people know you appreciate the people following your saga and feeling you family’s pain.
Suggestion: check with the holistic clinics that populate Baja CA. (Perhaps the FBI has done that already.) Good luck !
I look on this site everyday in hopes to hear some good news. And I pray that your family will be reunited and find peace.
I come to this site for this and only this. Each day I get so upset in the comments that are left by some of the public. I do understand their concern and confusion with it all. But I also understand that to pry and speculate is something that absolutely should not be done on the Family site. This is to kindly update us with the news that they feel comfortable giving us. The time will come when answers are given, but it is just so rude to write some of the things that the public has on here. I never ever thought I would be someone writing on this site (in response to others letters), but it was just an urge that I felt necessary.
I am so sorry to GJ and Mike and other family members having to waste their time reading such rude letters on here. I hope you do realize that the majority of people reading and looking at this site frequently are truly praying for you and your family.

I have been closely following this story and this website. I have to agree that from public perception they appear to have intended to vanish. I know many of you know them and are family members but in all honesty as the grown child of a law enforcement agent I have to chime in here. An entire family does not vanish without a trace unless they intend. The house appears to have been staged to leave an open end to wether they intended or were forced out in a kidnapping situation. This would buy them enough time to fall deep into Mexico and/or beyond. Sadly I know you are desperate to find them but you need to resign yourself to two very critical scenarios : 1, If something horrible has happened to them, at some point it will surface, and 2. Perhaps and all clues thus far that have been released, point to the fact they are ok, together and it is their wish to not be found. As heartbreaking as that is to swallow you need to put the fairness of federal and state resources into account. There is a lot of money and manpower being put to use to find them. This is not yet termed ” a cold case ” but at some point if your brother and his family can stay far enough ahead of them, they will give up. I am not intending top be harsh, just practical and up front. I hope for your sake they are found but honestly they seem like a beautiful family who loves each other and they are together, remember that.

Noone can fathom the agony you are experiencing and I am so very sorry that you have to endure this horrific nightmare. I am shocked at the unimaginable selfishness of strangers who somehow believe it is your job to relieve them of their “pain” related to not having information they seek. Why do we shoot our wounded? I would imagine the pain infiltrates every waking moment. God bless you as you wake up each day having to face the realization that they are still gone. I’m just so sorry.

Mikey, why no update? Really, just anything. People across the nation have worried and prayed for your missing family. Many of us check daily for an update. There’s been more than enough time to get the fingerprints back. If you know something but can’t say, why not just tell us that. To not respond to the inquiries at all makes it seem that the site is being deliberately neglected. I know you have your hands full but surely someone can help you keep this site going. It’s important if you want the public’s help. I’ve noticed no response to friends who have offered a reward. Maybe consider putting someone you trust in charge of keeping this site alive. I will personally keep praying for a good outcome and hoping you will see fit to respond regularly to the ones who visit this site.
I really am hoping they are ok. Could be drug related ? who knows ? my heart and prayers go out to the McStay family.
